SSSC Team:
Community Team

Hola, my name is Abbey and I am going into my second year of Neuroscience and Mental Health. During first year, the SSSC helped familiarize me with Carleton, and succeed in science. I’m really looking forward to being involved with the SSSC this year as a mentor and as part of the Community Building Team.

I know that the first year of university can seem daunting and difficult at times, but it is also very exciting. As long as you try your best, keep an open mind, and be true to yourself, you will be successful!

This past year, I was a member of the Student Alliance for Mental Health, the Neuroscience Society, and Free the Children, only a few of the awesome clubs offered here at Carleton. I am also a volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada at a local Ranger unit.

This summer I will be working in Dr. Patrice Smith’s lab with one of her graduate students looking at axon regeneration in optic nerves. I will also be enjoying sailing, swimming, and soaking up the sun.

If you are ever in need of science advice, study tips, or just a listening ear, don’t be afraid to stop by the SSSC!
