Hi! My name is Erin and I am a fourth year biology honours student with a concentration in Molecular and Cellular biology and a minor in psychology. This is my second year as a mentor with the SSSC, and first year as a Co-career team lead with the lovely Amanda. We are both very excited for this new role, and will be developing our knowledge on research and non-research careers, so if you have any questions about non-med careers feel free to come see us or any of our amazing team members!
During my first summer at Carleton I was a DSRI student in Dr. Bruce McKay's lab, and since then have been volunteering (also doing I-Cureus) throughout the school year and working full time as a research assistant during the summers. I am very passionate about research and plan to pursue it as a career. I have a particular interest in genetics and oncology which has developed during my time in the McKay lab which studies the p53 tumour suppressing gene.
My second and third year I tutored through the PMC (Paul Menton Centre) and plan to continue doing so throughout my fourth year. Outside of school I am currently working on my grade 10 RCM piano, and enjoy going for the occasional run when I have the energy.
