Hanane M.

Hi there! I am in my Masters of Biology and I will be one of your mentors this year at the SSSC on the Career Track Team. I have really enjoyed my time here at Carleton where I’ve had the opportunity to get involved in different events and met some great people.

In my first year I had the pleasure of working as a Research Assistant in Dr. Tyler Avis’ food science lab where I worked on cyclic lipopeptides and their effects on fungal plant pathogens. I now work with Dr. Ken Storey where I am looking at the regulation of various transcription factors and metabolic pathways during freezing and anoxia in the freeze tolerant wood frog.

You will probably see me in the Steacie Building running around in my lab coat but don’t worry, as I have everything under control… I think... If we do run into each other I am quite friendly and would love to sit and chat with you about anything from SCIENCE, to surviving university and classes, to what you can do with your degree when you graduate. Transitioning into university can sometimes be a little challenging but our job here is to make it easier. So come visit me at the SSSC, I look forward to meeting you!
