Hi there! My name is Hazel Kabibi. I am in my 4th year of Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in Psychology. I have greatly enjoyed the past three years at Carleton and I am looking forward to what my last year here will bring! I started with the SSSC in my first year as a First-Year Representative which was a great opportunity and lots fun. That same summer I received the Dean Summer Research Internship (DSRI) and worked in the lab with Dr. Hymie Anisman and his two PhD students Robyn and Opal. In my second year I started working for the Department of Housing and Residence Life Services as a Residence Fellow and joined the SSSC as a mentor. I spent my summering working in the Department of Housing as an assistant and giving presentations and tours to incoming Carleton students as well as being an e-mentor for student moving into residence. In my third year I returned to work with Residence Life as a Community Advisor (CA). I worked with a team of six Residence Fellows and was the CA for Prescott House. In addition, I am a Campus Tour Guide with Undergraduate Recruitment and I sit on the Student Mental Health Advisory Committee. This past year I also had the opportunity to attend the Ontario University Fair (OUF) as a representative for Carleton University. My various involvement has given me experience public speaking, facilitating workshops, being a mentor and role model and working hands on with incoming and prospective students. I am super excited to be at the SSSC as part of the Kick-Start into Science team and help students in science develop their leadership skills.
