Hi, my name is Jared and I am in my Masters of Biology. This is my third year at the SSSC and second year as the Health Care Team Co-Coordinator. Working with the SSSC has been the best part of my time here at Carleton. My best advice for all you students is to get involved, it makes your time here so much better. ! I am starting my Masters in the McKay lab which focuses research on the p53 tumor suppressing gene. Outside of school my passions are helping others, being active and traveling. I volunteer with the Lanark County Therapeutic Riding Association where we use horses as a method of rehabilitation for people with mental and physical disabilities. Last summer I travelled to Nepal to take part in medical volunteer work through the program Projects Abroad and hope to volunteer abroad again sometime in the near future. I enjoy playing soccer, competing in triathlons and just being active in general. I am also a huge Redblacks fan and have a mild Starbucks addiction ! I have been at Carleton for a good amount of time so if you have questions about anything like getting through university, medical school or just life in general I’m always happy to talk. All you have to do is drop by the centre, our mentors are great and the help is free so why not?
