Kick-Start into Science - Medical School Prep

Hello! My name is Katie and I’m in my third year of the Neuroscience and Mental Health Honours program. This is my first year as a mentor and I’m very excited to help in anyway I can! As part of the Kick-Start – Medical School Prep Team, I look forward to providing as much guidance as possible, through workshops and through one-on-one mentoring sessions.

I’m very passionate about mental health care and I plan to apply to medical school once I finish my undergrad. I’m also planning to volunteer with the Ottawa Distress Centre during the next school year.

I was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I come from a varied school and work background. I attended the University of King’s College in Halifax for their Foundation Year program (which focuses on Philosophy, English, and History), obtained a Civil Engineering Technology diploma, and worked as a drafter/safety coordinator for 2.5 years.

Aside from school, I enjoy running, reading, eating chocolate, and hanging out with my cats!

If you have any questions about transitioning from Arts to Science, need help with studying or planning your classes, or just want to hear a good cat story, I’m your go-to!
