Kick-Start into Science - New to Coding

Hello everyone! My name is Lina, and I'm in my Forth year in computer science .This is actually my second degree, as I have another one in forensic science. So yes, as you can probably imagine, I'm very familiar (perhaps too familiar?) with school dynamics at Carleton including courses, extra curriculars, volunteering, and whatnot. I have previously volunteered at a number of different labs, doing research in fields including forensic psychology, microbiology, analytical chemistry and Bioinformatics. If you have any questions about courses, chances are, I've already taken it! So please, feel free to stop by and ask me.

In my spare time, I enjoy doing productive and rewarding activities, including binge watching greys anatomy (I throw awesome complementary sob parties), shopping with my sister, and sometimes, even chilling and doing absolutely nothing. I also occasionally attempt to go jogging (key word attempt).

Pertaining more to my degree, I’ve worked at JSI Telecomm (Security Company) as a tester and I’m currently working at Ericsson. If you have questions regarding volunteer work, doing research, approaching profs, studying tips, or what it’s like being a coop please do not hesitate to approach me. Throughout the past years, I have encountered numerous situations and have been presented with multiple opportunities that have helped broaden my knowledge and expand my familiarity with the academic and non-academic life at Carleton. As such, I would love to be able to pass this knowledge on to anyone who needs it, or feels like they are still somewhat struggling.

I’m super excited to be one of the Kick-Start leaders for New to Coding this year! This is going to be a great opportunity for everyone, myself included so I hope to meet you fellow computer science students there!

Finally, if you just want to hang out or chat about anything, please feel free to stop by!
